AWAY TRAVEL LUGGAGE REVIEW

While browsing through instagram and checking out what Serena Williams is up to, one thing kept popping up, The AWAY travel luggage. I have been trying to buy durable luggage for a while now after the wheels of my current luggage decided to leave me.

I did some research and the two brands that where within my price range and style where Samsonite and AWAY. I was leaning towards the Samsonite Noviare set because of the style, reviews and weight, until I read their warranty policy and others experience with their customer service.

So what swayed me to AWAY?

Warranty
Samsonite’s warranty only covers manufacturers defects. “This warranty covers only manufacturing defects and does not cover any damage caused by misuse (such as transportation of unusual items), neglect, accidents, abrasion, exposure to extreme temperatures, solvents, acids, water, normal wear and tear or transport damage (by airlines for example).”
Given that these luggages are not on the cheaper end, this was a huge red flag to me, because I didn’t want to spend 500+ dollars on luggage and then the wheel falls off after a month and I am stuck with the bill to fix it.

AWAY on the other hand has a limited lifetime warranty which covers damages to the shell, wheels etc “Our suitcases are guaranteed by a limited lifetime warranty that covers any damage to the shell, wheels, handles, zippers, and many other functional elements of our luggage. Learn more about our warranties “
This was the security blanket that I made me switch from Samsonite to AWAY. (tbh I was about to purchase the Samsonite luggage when I read their warranty statement and that completely changed my decision.

Customer Service
I haven’t had any experience with their customer service but you can get a feel of how a company would treat their customers from reviews and how they engage their customers on instagram. I went through most of the reviews on the site and one thing that was consistent was if someone had an issue or asked a question, a rep from AWAY always responded. This was also true on their instagram page, so I felt comfortable knowing that I can reach out to someone if I had any issues with the luggage.

Style
The exterior luggage is stylish enough not over the top but it is good. I also love the color ranges. The interior on the other hand is beautiful. I feel like whoever designed it had the user in mind, because it even has a laundry bag which is someone I personally need when I travel.

Weight
The empty large luggage by itself is quite heavy (11.6 lbs), so if you are someone like me who travels internationally and doesn’t know how to pack light, this is something to have in mind.

Material
So far I love everything about my luggage. The material is good quality and durable, the wheels and handles are easy to maneuver, so I have no complaints.

Batteries and Accessories
The carryon luggage comes with a preinstalled battery which you can take out and out back in as needed. This is especially useful for those times when your phone or other electronics die on the plane and you need a quick charge. Also, I love that the battery came with chargers that can be used in any continent. Talk about designing for the user.

Overall I have no complains with the AWAY Luggage and can’t wait to travel away.

What’s your favorite luggage brand? If you have you tried AWAY, what are your thoughts on the brand?
