BECOMING A MORNING PERSON

Despite going to boarding school for 7 years and having to wake up at 4/5 am almost every day, I have never considered myself a morning person. I’ve been trying really hard to go to bed by 10 or 11pm in order to wake up by 6 am, but that hasn’t been going really well, because my body still gets a spark of energy at 11:00pm and that’s when I want to get everything done. It’s like my peak hour. So why do I even want to become a morning person?

1. Work
The difference between working full time and being a full time college student is I can’t just miss work like I used to miss class for whatever reason. Also, I can’t just show up tired and fall asleep because I didn’t get enough sleep. I’ve to be on my A game all the time.

2. Discipline
I admire people who can go bed at a specific time every day because that requires a lot of self-discipline. I’ve been trying to be more consistent and self-disciplined and a good place to start would be my sleep schedule. People who are disciplined are also more likely to achieve their goals than those who just gowith the flow and I got lots of goals to achieve.

3. Self-Care
When I was in college I used to function on 3 or 4 hours of sleep. On a good day, I got 6 hours. I looked like crap, dark circles and all. I was over working my mind and body and didn’t give myself time to recuperate. I’m more self and beauty conscious now, hence treating myself like rhodium is a priority.

4. Workout
I used to be really good at working out in college but I don’t have that motivation anymore. When I get home after work, I just want to relax and have some peace and quiet. Working out before work makes it easier and I can start my day with a natural boost of energy.

5. Something Special
There’s something about waking up at 5 or 6 am and starting my day which I can’t explain. Also, I usually feel more accomplished when I start my day early. I really like the peace and quiet of the early mornings, which makes it easier for me to meditate. I’m trying to practice meditation and mindfulness.

*** If you start your day early, your body starts shutting down by 9 or 10 pm which helps you to go to bed early***.
