How I Stay Active

Living an active lifestyle could be a lot of fun but also very challenging. I am usually good at working out or staying active when I am on a schedule, because I can just incorporate my workouts into my daily routine. I recently graduated and I’ve more free time with little or no schedule. You would think this would make it easier for me workout and stay active but, NO.. I went from working out 5X a week when I was super busy to barely working out 3X a week now.

When I started slacking and being inconsistent with my workouts, I could see and feel the changes in my body. I went from having baby six packs to it disappearing.

What I do now is everyday when I wake up, I write down a schedule for the day. My workouts are usually the first or second items on my schedule because this works for me and there are usually less people in my apartment gym in the morning. If I have a busy day which would be challenging for me to workout, Instead of driving I walk to some places.

I was never one of those who believed in wearable devices, but I decided to get a Fitbit. After I got it, it made me more aware of how sedentary I could be on some days. I am not super obsessed with tracking everything, I use it to mainly track my sleep, steps and calorie burn when I workout.

I strive for at least 10,000 steps a day (Based on a research study) but I don’t get super worked up if I don’t hit the 10,000 steps a day mark.
Another thing which I do, is I have a go to workout routine and I follow a youtube workout channel. This is especially helpful when your are just starting out and have no idea what to do or on days when you have a limited amount of time to workout

Strength training and HIIT are my favorite workouts. You don’t need a gym to be able to workout. I sometimes workout in my apartment or use my apartment gym when it’s not busy. Fitness Blender on youtube is my go to site for workouts. I follow their routines because they are so diverse, real and it’s easier than making up my own.

I modify their routines sometimes based on how I am feeling. If you follow a workout program It’s okay to modify the routines to suit you. Here’s my go to Fitness Blender routine when I don’t have a lot of time but want a full body workout. Don’t feel bad if you try a fitness blender HIIT workout  and cannot go pass 10 mins. The first time I tried it, I almost passed out after 15 mins and took longer breaks than those in the workouts. I didn’t give up, I kept pushing and challenging myself and was consistent. Now, I can keep up with pretty much all their workout. CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

This is not a Fitness Blender ad, I’m sharing because it has worked for me. If you try fitness blender let me know your favorite workouts and how challenging it was for you.
