My Number One Rule to Create any Look

If you haven’t already, check out my previous post on the Don’ts when creating an outfit because it is related to this post. My sister said the outfit in my last post was confused and I completely agree with her, there was just too much going on. I decided to go back to my number 1 rule when creating an outfit and recreate this look

My number 1 rule is focus on one item and create the look from it, which is what I did. I broke down all the pieces from the previous outfit and decided to focus on my shoes. My shoes can be bought from Macy’s

Focusing on one item creates a look which looks well put together, standouts but looks effortless. Always use the item you are focusing on as a reference throughout your creative process. I chose a red lip for this look because I wanted some color but didn’t want to distract from the monotone look I was going for.

I chose all grey because I didn’t want any colors which would over power the shoes. All Black would have been great and make the shoes stand out more but I decided against it, because I wear a lot of black. Also, your pose when taking pictures determines what viewers are going to focus on. Kicking out one of my legs draws viewers attention to the shoes.

I pride myself in my ability to pull off any outfit because of this rule and also my confidence when I wear anything. To draw the focus away from my shoes, I decided to add a pop of color and take off the red lipstick, to keep the focus on one item.

Adding the oversized cardigan creates a completely different look but still portrays the beauty of the shoes. You can see how creating a look by focusing on one item creates different vibes but still portrays the beauty of each individual item.
