GET TO KNOW ME

How I Unplug

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed as I’ve been trying to figure out this whole worklife-balance stuff. I feel like i’m constantly on the go mentally, so I’ve been trying to take personal time and unplug. Here are 6 things I am currently doing:

1. Journaling
For as long as I can remember I’ve always been into journaling even though I’ve never been consistent. I normally journal when I’m facing some personal issues and I’m trying to face my inner self which I usually avoid, but lately I’ve added journaling as part of my night time routine. It helps me to reflect on my life, see areas for improvement as well as accomplishments and set goals for the next day. Journaling is definitely the number thing which helps me unplug because it’s a platform to put all those thoughts which are constantly racing through my head. I’ve multiple journals for different things

2. Working Out
There’s something about me, working out and getting an adrenaline rush which I cannot explain. Working out is one of the moments when I’m 100% present and I don’t think about anything else. I try to workout Monday-Friday usually before bed, which counts as my me-time.

3. Staying in Bed Extra During the Weekends
Even though I work full time now, I still find it hard to wake up early in the morning and go to bed on time because I am not a morning person. I have most of my energy at night, so I’m usually in a rush in the mornings. Therefore on the weekends, I lay in bed for about 45 mins after I wake up doing nothing with no electronics etc. This really calms me down and makes me happy.

4. Technology Detox
Because I work in front of a computer for most of the day, when I get home I try to put all electronics away for at least an hour and have a technology detox. My phone is usually on silent and do not disturb by default which also helps me to forget about it. This is super helpful because it allows me to do things that I actually want to do, like create looks, practice sewing and draw.

5. Read a Book
I’m forcing myself to get into the habit of reading and I’m currently trying to read one book a month. I seat on my balcony and read when I get home from work. Getting that Vit D is a bonus and when you’re a blogger, reading is your best friend as it improves your writing style and vocabulary .

6. Clean and Organize
I have peace of mind when everything is clean and organize, which is why you would rarely see my apartment messy. On Saturdays, I clean every inch of my apartment while listening to my favorite playlist and drinking Kombucha. This is usually the highlight of my day

Bonus: Facetiming my Friends
People always feel like unplugging has to be done alone but I disagree. I’ve friends that when I talk to, it feels like a weight is being lifted off my chest and they help me put everything back to perspective.
