A few weeks ago, someone asked me where I shop for professional clothes and as I was listing a bunch of places when she said, ” I am petite and I usually have to alter the clothes especially when I get them from department stores”. This is something that folks like myself who are not petite don’t have to even think about.
I actually tried shopping for a friend who is petite once and it was a painful challenge because there are not many options. Here’s my advice to people who are petite, I know it sucks and it’s not ideal but you need to be good and comfortable with online shopping. Departments stores have limited, if any petite clothing but their online stores usually have a wider selection.
1. Misguided
If you are petite, Misguided should be your best friend. They have really beautiful pieces for any occasion at a reasonable price. I really love how unique their pieces are and the student discount is pretty decent. Use UNIDAYS!!!
2. Boohoo
Misguided and Boohoo are very similar in the type of clothing they sell. Boohoo has a decent selection of petite clothing at a cheaper price. Be careful with the sizing, they run a little bigger than the average US size. I personally love Boohoo, it is my go to place for most of my clothes.
3. ASOS
ASOS is the one stop shop for everyday and casual clothes. If you are just trying to change/redo your closet, start here.
4. Macy’s
Macy’s has a pretty decent petite selection. They have some everyday pieces but the selection is mostly catered to going out or formal occasions. So, if you ever need clothes for a last minute special occasion, check out Macy’s
5. Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack
Just like Macy’s Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, have a pretty decent selection for special occasion clothing. Nordstrom Rack is cheaper, so definitely start there.
6. Banana Republic
Banana Republic has a little bit of everything when it comes to petite clothing but it is on the pricey end. Definitely check them out.
Bonus:
Prettylittlething is well rounded petite shop for lack of a better term. They have pretty little sexy pieces!!
Hope this helped and wasn’t too overwhelming. If you are not comfortable shopping online, check out this post. It is a guide to online shopping.
