A couple of months ago I went to Mexico for a friend’s birthday celebration. It was my first time and I absolutely loved it. I was really amazed at how kind, hospitable and patient everyone we met were.
Our flight from Minneapolis was delayed by about 4 hours so we didn’t get to Cancun until later in the day. We got some money from the airport and took the bus to our airbnb.
Getting Around the Cities/Island
The bus is very reliable and it was our main form of transportation. Our airbnb was about 10 mins away from the bus stop which was super convenient. We took Taxis as well but not as much because the buses are cheaper.
We spent our first day in Cancun and Isla Mujeres. Cancun is very city like, so if you are into the city and party life you would love it. Isla Mujeres has more of a chill vibe, so if you just need some peace and quiet, I highly recommend it.
Tips
Use the atms instead of exchanging money at the airport. The airport conversion rate is trash.
Have an open mind and mingle with the locals
Stay in an airbnb, you have more freedom to explore
Take the bus instead of a Taxi
