Our Friendship Journey

Hey everyone!!
I’m super excited about this post, first of all because Scholastica and I share a special bond and it was kinda emotional writing it because we both had to get really personal and connect with our feelings, which we don’t like doing. We came up with the questions and asked each other, so whenever you see Scholastica in this post, know that she is talking about me and vice versa, if that makes sense.

How I Unplug

Lately, I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed as I’ve been trying to figure out this whole worklife-balance stuff. I feel like i’m constantly on the go mentally, so I’ve been trying to take personal time and unplug. Here are 6 things I am currently doing:

Why I Keep My Friend Circle Tight and Small

I am the person who walks into a room and takes about 10-15 mins just observing people and subtly deciding who I’m gonna interact with and who could potentially be a friend. I never jump right in because I like meaningful and legit interactions which explains why most of my friendships never start up on a good note. Most first impressions I get from people is that I am stuck up, but that’s just because I am reserved and don’t jump right in, but when you get pass my stuck up, you would realize that there’s a soft cushion underneath. I can hear my friend Gaby telling me Vaneh, “You need to talk to more people, you talk to about 8 people who we went to high school with”. This is so true and while my friend may be right, the people you keep around take a lot of your energy and you take in their energy as well, so at some point I had to started asking myself if it was worth it and if that’s the type of energy that I need in my life, hence why I have a very small and tight circle.

Where There is a Will, There is a Way

A couple of you have probably heard this saying and some of probably not. This saying is a definition of what my life is and where it is going right now. Flash back to January, February and specifically March when I started applying to jobs, I had no concrete Idea of what I wanted to do, but I knew that I didn’t want to work in front of a computer all day, I wanted to work with people for majority of my time.

Why I Started Blogging

I was browsing the internet looking at other blogs for ideas/inspiration when I realize that I didn’t have a post on why I started this site in the first place.

How Black Panther Managed to Address Everything from Colonization to Refugees to Colorism to Inferiority Complex and More

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here but I’m working on my consistency. This post is little different and not really about fashion but there would be some fashion elements. Last week I went to watch Black Panther and honestly I had no expectations. I mainly went because of all the buzz and I had a free ticket. Even though the cast was mainly black, one of the reasons why I had no expectations was because very few movies do any justice to the cultures which stem from the African continent  (See what I did there? I didn’t say African culture because it’s not a thing/doesn’t exist). Most of the time these movies just enhance stereotypes associated with the continent and the director/producers get their information about the continent from the internet.
